Meet The Tucson Accounting Team
Reba, a graduate of the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management, founded the firm in 2005 with a vision of becoming Tucson’s leading solution for businesses to outsource their bookkeeping. Besides owning the firm, Reba is KA’s business development manager, in which her responsibilities include sales and marketing. She currently serves on the boards of the Tucson Association of Executives and the National Association of Women Business Owners – Greater Tucson.
A natural communicator, Reba previously managed several successful medical businesses in Oklahoma and Nevada, as well as an HVAC business she owned with her husband of 35 years, Mike. They have two adult sons, a grandson and a granddaughter. In her spare time, she enjoys meeting friends over white wine and continually redecorating her 70-year-old midtown home.
Mike is KA’s operations manager, responsible for overseeing client work and implementing systems to improve efficiency and deliver customer satisfaction. He relocated to Tucson in 2007 to join the family accounting firm and assist his mother in its burgeoning growth. Among the KA accounting clients he services are a retirement community, a law firm and a website design company.
Mike earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2000. He spent seven years a staff reporter for the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Nevada’s largest newspaper, before switching to a career in accounting, his college minor. He and his wife, Kimberly, have two children, Cooper and Shelby, who were not purposefully named after a make and model of motor vehicles. A devoted lover of music, he spends his spare time digging through record store crates in search of rare vinyl albums.
Nancy, who joined Kalil & Associates in 2008, is a full-charge bookkeeper and QuickBooks Proadvisor, a designation certifying that she has been tested as an expert user of the software. Among her accounts at KA are a graphic design agency, a homeowners’ association, a developer of high-tech “smart” cameras and a nonprofit organization that delivers meals to the homebound. Before joining us, she had extensive experience handling bookkeeping for advertising and real estate agencies.
Nancy, who holds an associate’s degree in accounting, also assists in KA’s business development and marketing. When not crunching numbers, you might find Nancy crunching opponents on the soccer field or cheering on the four other athletes in her family, her husband George and daughters Alexis, Karina and Ashley.
Stephanie, a full-charge bookkeeper with us since 2009, also serves as our lead QuickBooks trainer. Besides her associate’s degree in accounting, she also holds a bachelor’s in education and has experience as a schoolteacher, making her especially adept at assisting our clients who come to us to learn how to do their own accounting. Among the clients whose books she keeps are a nurse practitioner, an organic beef ranch and a chiropractic clinic.
Stephanie relocated to Tucson from Pennsylvania in 2008 with her husband, Todd, and their teenage boys, Luke and Jake. As a lifelong Northeasterner, she’s still getting used to the heat and other previously foreign parts of Southwest culture, such as the tamale. An avid gardener and hiker, she recently conquered the 10.8-mile trek up and down Mt. Wrightson in Madera Canyon.
Melissa, who goes by “Missy,” joined our bookkeeping team in 2010 as a part-timer while continuing her education in pursuit of an accounting degree. Previously, she spent 12 years handling accounts receivable and route accounting for Reddy Ice Corp., the nation’s largest ice manufacturing and distribution company.
A native Tucsonan, Missy has two stepchildren, Ralyn and Brandon, who currently serves in the Army. She and her husband, Billy, have two younger sons, Zakry and Brett. When the family’s not at the lake in the summer, they’re on the prowl for wild game — Missy, Billy and the boys are avid hunters and archers.
