Anchor Wave, Tucson’s leading website builder and Internet search engine optimization firm, has outsourced all of the accounting functions for its 9-person staff to Kalil & Associates since 2004. The scope of this work includes management of accounts payable and billable, payroll and payroll tax return preparation, financial statement preparation, financial planning and budgeting. We’ve also assisted with human resources issues, such as screening potential job candidates with testing services.

Carden of Tucson, Inc.
Carden of Tucson, Inc. operates a K-8 charter school in northwest Tucson. In early March, its board of directors retained Kalil & Associates to audit the school’s books and financial controls. The board subsequently decided to retain Kalil to perform all of its accounting functions rather than have a bookkeeper on staff. Among the functions the firm performs for the school are preparation of payroll, quarterly payroll reporting, account reconciliations, management of accounts payable, budget preparation, financial reporting to the board and administration of the school retirement plan.

Handi-Dogs, Inc.
Handi-Dogs, one of the oldest assistance dog training programs in the country, was founded as a pilot program in 1973 to teach people with disabilities how to train their own dogs to be their assistance animal. In 1978, Handi-Dogs received its IRS tax-exempt status. The nonprofit’s mission is to promote independence, freedom, health and dignity for seniors and people with disabilities through the use of trained dogs. The scope of Kalil & Associates’ work for Handi-Dogs includes monthly recording of deposits and checks into accounts, reconciliation of bank accounts, preparation of financial reports for the board of directors and entry of its annual budget into QuickBooks.

Happy Trails Christian School
A ministry of St. James United Methodist Church, Happy Trails is a preschool dedicated to child development and religious instruction. Kalil & Associates’ chief trainer instructed their director in how to use QuickBooks to process payroll. The firm also prepared W-2s and 1099s for the school, and answers accounting questions that frequently arise in the course of the director’s day-to-day bookkeeping.

The Mineralogical Record
Founded in 1970, The Mineralogical Record is an internationally distributed publication considered the most authoritative and respected mineral collector’s journal in the world. Kalil & Associates performs payroll for this nonprofit’s production staff, maintains their QuickBooks data file to record all sales and banking activity and prepares financial reports for the board of directors’ annual meeting. Our firm also performs royalty calculations for books sold on behalf of foreign publishers.

Mobile Meals of Tucson, Inc.
Mobile Meals is a volunteer-based, nonprofit organization that delivers special diet meals to homebound adults, helping them preserve their health, dignity and independence. Like other 501(c)3 organizations, Mobile Meals performs an annual audit with the assistance of Kalil & Associates to benefit from the confidence of audited financial statements. We are responsible for ensuring Mobile Meals is within audit compliance standards.

NAWBO Greater Tucson
As one of Tucson’s largest nonprofit organizations, the National Association of Women Business Owners has a staff member handling its day-to-day bookkeeping functions. But its 16-member executive board also requires trend analysis and annual budget preparation expertise. Kalil & Associates took up these tasks after firm owner Reba Kalil was elected NAWBO’s treasurer in 2009, a post she currently holds.

Vantage Hearing performs evaluations of hearing and sells and services hearing aids. Established in 2007, Vantage has retained Kalil & Associates to outsource much of its accounting, including bank and credit card reconciliations, preparation of financial statements for tax-planning, preparation of income tax returns, refining of its chart of accounts and preparation of W-2s and 1099s.

Operated by Innovative Senior Living, Inc., The Villas at La Canada is a neighborhood of upscale assisted living homes in northwest Tucson. Among its staff’s specialties is memory care for seniors with Alzheimer’s disease. Kalil & Associates manages The Villas’ accounts payable, records customer payments and deposits, and classes payroll for its large team of care providers, nurses and management.
